My dōTERRA Experience

dōTERRA, a Latin derivative meaning “Gift of the Earth.” That is what my experience have been so far with my essential oils, it feels like mother earth is providing me with gifts through this amazing company. Although I am just coming from a consumer perspective, I want to share with you my experiences with this amazing essential oils.

I have been trying essential oils for a couple of years now, from local herbalist grade essential oils acquired from the local organic food coop, to trying brands that have been distributed internationally, and none had provided me with the kind of experience dōTERRA has.

Before I start speaking about the oils, I want to start by giving you a brief history about the company, dōTERRA:

Why I love the company that makes this oils?

Well you see, in addition to supplying the highest quality essential oils doTERRA is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of farmers, harvesters, and distillers who contribute to dōTERRA’s oil production.

With over 100 essential oils in its product line, doTERRA sources its oils from over 40 countries —more than half of which could be considered developing countries. To ensure that small scale farmers and harvesters in disadvantaged areas are treated ethically, dōTERRA has introduced an initiative called Co-Impact Sourcing.

Co-Impact Sourcing is an initiative that seeks to develop long-term, mutually beneficial supplier partnerships while creating sustainable jobs and providing reliable income in underdeveloped areas. dōTERRA is committed to the ethical treatment of its suppliers by providing on-time payments at fair prices. Growers and harvesters are encouraged to form cooperative groups to share collective benefits and bargaining power while improving skills and capacity. 

Additionally, the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation® helps support development projects in sourcing communities. Projects include schools, health clinics, improved infrastructure and clean water systems. 

Other reasons that dōTERRA gives me confidence when choosing it as an essential oil supplier:

-The oils are of sustainable cultivation, without damaging nature

-A fair price is paid to all who work in this, there being no child labor either

-They train and take care of those who take care of the important task of providing Wellness Consults to those of us who use the oils.

-Multiple tests are made to the oils to ensure their purity, potency and effects.

-The company is rooted on nature, ethics and earth, not money.

Lets start talking about how it all started:

One of my friends started using an air diffuser in her office, her office always smelled so good, and it was a very inspiring place, I asked her about the smell and she explained what it was, and how she got them, and the benefits of this oils. I was skeptical, mainly because of my past experience with essential oils, and my frustration of over spending on things that were over advertised, over rated & did not work, so I never followed up to get my own oils.

Fast forward to the present, I visited Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with my friend, and we stayed at her friends house who sold her these oils that she was diffusing at her office, first the house smelled amazing, but the highlight of my stay was my experience of sleeping next to a diffuser, difussing Lavender from dōTERRA. Oh my god! I woke up the next day and immediately asked what was it, and why it was so good, mind you I have used essentials oils in the past, but I have never used a diffuser. I left Portsmouth wanting more of the oil experience, and of curse wanting to stay there, Portsmouth is such a beautiful town, but that is another story.

A couple of week later Mrs. Shantel Surles a dōTERRA Wellness Advocate, contacted me to offer me the dōTERRA expeirence, I couldn't hesitate to say yes, I mean this was my opportunity to experience these oils, I ordered the dōTERRA Family Essentials Kit, a kit that contains 10 essential oils and blends—the "feel better" essentials that one need on a daily basis to care for their families and themselves. With this kit I have been able to experience a few of the possibly infinite ways that dōTERRA Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils work. This kit contains 5 mL bottles of Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Melaleuca, Oregano, Frankincense, Deep Blue®, doTERRA Breathe®, DigestZen®, doTERRA On Guard® along with a quick usage guide for each essential oil and blend included. During that first call we also scheduled what would be my first wellness consult with Shantel, you see a dōTERRA Wellness Consult is a critical component of your Lifestyle Overview through the eyes of a dōTERRA Wellness Advocate or how I prefer to call them essential oil experts. This is where I had the opportunity to express my needs, and my routine to Shantel, and Shantel provided multiple ways on how I could use the oils on daily basis, and the benefits they would bring into my life. As a consumer through this consult, I was able to learn how to tackle my health needs, with natural solutions. I also learned how to use these products effectively. Shantel as a dōTERRA Wellness Advocate aims to empower her base with a hands-on approach to living a healthy lifestyle that allows them to customize their own journey to natural wellness through the dōTERRA product experience. This consults are completely free, and have been definitely a highlight of my experience with the oils.

Lets talk about the oils:

Deep Blue

Formulated to soothe and cool, dōTERRA Deep Blue is an enriched blend of oils perfect for a massage after a long day or an intense workout, I use it under my feet, and it helps me relax and ease with the pain of going up and down the stairs all day.

On Guard

As one of dōTERRA's most popular oils, dōTERRA On Guard is a powerful proprietary blend that supports healthy immune function* and contains cleansing properties.

Lavender

Lavender is often considered a must-have oil to keep on hand at all times due to its versatile uses, including calming and relaxing properties that promote peaceful sleep and ease feelings of tension*. I rub this one under my feet and trust me the smell is amazing and the experience of going to sleep while this oil is being diffuse is amazing, and an opportunity you shouldn't miss.

DigestZen

DigestZen is a wonderful companion to aid in the digestion of food, soothe occasional upset stomachs, and reduce uncomfortable gas and bloating.* This one is my absolute favorite after every meal. Plus it taste good combined with water.

Melaleuca/Tea Tree

Melaleuca, or Tea Tree oil, is best known for its purifying qualities, which make it useful for cleansing the skin and home surfaces, purifying the air, or promoting healthy immune function.* I love going to sleep with this on my diffuser, I sometimes mix it with Lavender, and the combination of both smell so good.

Frankincense

Often called the “king of oils,” Frankincense promotes feelings of peace and overall wellness when used aromatically, while topical and internal uses provide modern health benefits.* I put lemon and frankincense on my feet every morning, the combination of both help me activate my senses and help keeping my feet warm on this cold harsh winter.

Lemon

The cleansing, purifying, and invigorating properties of Lemon make it one of the most versatile oils, not to mention the top-selling essential oil that dōTERRA offers. I use this oil with frankincense in the morning, I rub a few drops of each on the sole of my feet to keep me active, and keep my feet warm.

Peppermint

The high menthol content of the dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil sets it apart from others when it comes to quality—making it one of the best-selling favorites among dōTERRA essential oils. I love peppermint, peppermint helps me breath, I use two drops every morning I wake up with a stuffy nose, I diffuse it sometimes at night and it helps me sleep.

Breathe

A popular essential oil blend, dōTERRA Breathe's refreshing aroma can be used to create feelings of clear, easy breathing. I mix breathe and peppermint together, when peppermint itself is not enough to de-congest my nose.

Oregano

Known as a popular cooking spice, Oregano also acts as a powerful cleansing agent, and offers powerful antioxidants* extending its uses far beyond the kitchen. I have not yet used oregano outside the kitchen, but oregano oil is fire for fry pan asparagus. Yum!

Siberian Fir

With a fresh, woody scent, Siberian Fir can help balance your emotions and soothe anxious feelings. This one I mix in the diffuser with lavender, and they both bring me to the woods, the aroma inspire me, it motivates my senses.

Myrrh

While it is known to hold powerful cleansing properties, particularly for the throat and mouth, Myrrh can also be used to support well-being and emotional balance.* I have used it on multiple occasions with lemon under my feet, I personally despite how it smells, that's why I tend to combine it with lemon.

Slim & Sassy

I am no longer hungry when I am not hungry but my appetite kicks in, this oil was designed to help boost your metabolism and manage hunger cravings, Slim & Sassy Metabolic Blend can be used as part of a weight management plan when combined with exercise and healthy eating.* I don't exercise and I don't consider that I eat healthy, but I am taking a drop of this oil after every meal, and drink two drops with 1 glass of water whenever I feel am hungry, but it is just my anxiety, and it helps!
